ICBF verificará derechos a niños y niñas atendidos en fundación de Chocontá

Al calificar como crueles y humillantes los hechos de violencia en contra de un niño de 9 años de edad, presuntamente ocurridos en una fundación de Chocontá en Cundinamarca, la Directora General del Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF), Lina Arbeláez, anunció que el instituto verificará los derechos de todos los niños y niñas atendidos en ese lugar.

«Tenemos que volver a reiterar que cualquier trato cruel que degrade o vulnere la dignidad de los niños y niñas en nuestro país es condenable y repudiable”, dijo Lina Arbeláez al señalar que una vez se conoció la denuncia envió un equipo de Defensoría de Familia a revisar la documentación de la fundación. Como los niños que asisten a esta institución residen en los departamentos de Cundinamarca, Boyacá y la ciudad de Bogotá, se destinarán equipos de Defensoría de las diferentes regionales para la verificación de derechos.

“Necesitamos establecer si existen casos de violencia similares para establecer el acervo probatorio que permita castigar a los responsables y por eso, la invitación es a las familias de los niños atendidos para que cuenten con el apoyo del ICBF”, reiteró la funcionaria.

Además, dijo, que en el marco de la Ley 1098 de 2006, el ICBF tiene la potestad de inspeccionar cualquier lugar que brinde atención a menores de 18 años. “Tenemos que revisar el esquema de licencias, bajo que potestad legal trabaja esta institución educativa en cumplimiento del artículo 16 de la norma.

Finalmente, Lina Arbeláez sostuvo que este es un hecho dolorosísimo que afecta la integridad física y emocional de un niño de tan solo 9 años. Urge que a la mayor brevedad se puedan establecer los hechos que rodearon este lamentable caso y de comprobarse las denuncias se den las condenas correspondientes.

“No podemos naturalizar la violencia contra los niños, ni usarla como un método de corrección como lo plantea la Ley 2089 del 2021 que prohíbe el uso del castigo físico y humillante contra menores de edad. Colombia es un país que necesita entender la corresponsabilidad que tenemos como familia, sociedad y Estado en la protección de la garantía de derechos de la niñez y la adolescencia”.
